At Probation Service Helsingborg, we are over 100 employees located in premises directly adjacent to the Helsingborg Remand Center and near the Police Authority in the northern part of the city.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a probation officer, you will be responsible for clients released on conditional release who are under supervision, as well as clients sentenced to probation. You will manage your own cases and will have a lot of conversations and client contact in your daily work. The probation service is also responsible for intensive supervision with electronic monitoring, known as ankle monitoring, community service, youth supervision, and clients serving time in prison.

The work within the probation service includes conducting risk and needs assessments and establishing plans for execution. Some probation officers also work with investigations and lead treatment programs for clients. A significant part of our work is conducted according to the KRIMSTICS method, which combines structured risk assessments with a conversational method based on cognitive behavioral therapy. The responsibilities also include conducting personal investigations and providing opinions to the court and suggesting appropriate sanctions, which means that administration and documentation are a large part of the work in addition to client conversations.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is secure, stable, and enjoys working in a structured manner based on legislation. You are comfortable in client-facing conversations and have a good understanding of how people absorb knowledge and adapt your way of conveying messages according to the recipient's conditions. For the role of probation officer, it is required that you have good judgment, can work independently and take initiative, as well as have a good ability to collaborate. As a person, you are flexible, engaged, see opportunities in the work, and have a structured and quality-conscious working method. You have a good ability to prioritize even during periods of higher workload.

We are looking for candidates who have:

• A university degree (at least a bachelor's level), preferably in behavioral science, social work, criminology, social sciences, or law, or other academic education combined with experience deemed relevant by the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
• Good ability to express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish
• Driving license (B)

It is advantageous if you have:

• Work experience in probation, client-facing work, social care, psychiatry, or health and care work
• Experience in exercising authority
• Experience in investigative work focusing on risk and needs assessments
• Experience in documentation and case management
• Experience in security work
• Relevant language skills
